Information

When leaving Holberg for Raft Cove Parking lot or Cape Palmerston drive very slowly (10km/hr) through the Western Forest Products shop yard. Veer right onto San Josef Main at the 1st major intersection about 1km down the road.  You will encounter logging truck traffic on San Josef Main for at least 3km after veering left on Ronning main.  There is active logging happening next to Ronning Main a couple of Km’s from the Ronning/San Josef junction.  Expect minor delays, pay attention to the signage and follow instructions when passing through the worksite

Before You Drive

  1. Check current road conditions on Twitter using @WFPRoadInfo and the #WinterHarbour hashtag or the feed on this website. Cellphone service is very limited and unreliable on this road. Issues like flooding and heavy industrial activity could end or significantly slow down your trip.
  2. Ensure your vehicle is in good working order, has a full tank of fuel and is equipped with an inflated spare tire and the tools needed to change that tire.
  3. Carry water, snacks, warm clothing, blankets and road safety gear to keep you healthy during and unexpected breakdown.

While You Drive

  1. Always drive with your headlights on. Even in the daytime.
  2. Follow the speed limit and drive to the conditions. Traveling at a high speeds on industrial roads puts everyone at risk and won't make a big difference to your overall travel time.
  3. Expect to see heavy equipment and logging trucks.
  4. Expect to see wildlife.
  5. Bridges are single lane so please take your time and yield to logging trucks.
  6. If the road is dusty and you have limited visibility please wait for the dust to settle before continuing.
